just an observation.....
I think that the people who peek down the subway tunnel to see if the train is coming…
are the same people that press the Up or Down elevator button more than once.
A watched train never arrives. And an elevator, no matter how technologically advanced, does not register your impatience.

I was in a building last week that had a computerized sign in sheet at the door, directed me to the elevator bank I needed to go to, had the 11 button already pushed for my floor and welcomed me in a pleasant voice. No joke.
I do that.
I am impatient, but really at that point I'm usually considering the local instead of the xpress. I just like to be moving.
Oh, and I hate you.
